UK-India Young Professionals Scheme to offer 3,000 visas/year’ by Rishi Sunak
UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has agreed to provide 3,000 visas to Indian young professionals. The visas will be offered to applicants having the age of 18 and 30 years. These candidates can live and work in the UK for up to two years. Around a quarter of international students in the UK are from India. The UK is on a path of a trade deal with India and if it becomes successful, this will help in making a UK-India trading relationship.

New Indian visa center inaugurated in London
A new Indian visa center was opened in London so that processing of the immigration applications can be boosted. The center will also provide a doorstep service and facility of requirement verification. The visa center was inaugurated on November 1, 2022, The number of appointments can be increased up to 40,000 Traveling of tourists from the UK to India will get the facility of Visa at Your Doorstep and the fee for this facility is £180. The requirements will be collected from home and will be brought back after the completion of the application processing.

Rishi Sunak becomes first Indian Origin Prime Minister of UK
Rishi Sunak will become the next prime minister of the UK. He will replace Liz Truss and will form the government. Rishi Sunak defeated Penny Mordaunt who was unable to get enough votes to enter the ballot. Boris Johnson withdrew from the election stating that he will not be able to unite the Conservative party.
The prices of British Government bonds increased briefly after this decision after the withdrawal of Mordaunt. Sunak is a former finance minister and he will be the third prime minister within two months. He has to restore the country’s stability as the country is facing economic and political issues.
He also has to cut the spending cost as the country has entered a recession because of an increase in the cost of energy and food.

Cabinet approves MoU on recognition of academic qualifications between India & UK
The Union Cabinet has given the approval to an MoU between the UK and India. This MoU has been approved in relation to the mutual recognition of the qualifications of the students. This MoU will help in the movement of students between both countries. The degrees that are not included in the MoU are:
The aim of the MoU is to give recognition to the educational qualifications related to the academic degrees within the educational institutions of the two countries. The UK has made a request for granting the recognition of one year Master’s programme which was accepted in the meeting between the education ministers of the two countries. The meeting was held on December 16, 2020.

Police verification not required for international students, UK Home Office
International students who are residing in the UK for more than six months are not required to have any registration with the police authorities. Previously, students have to register with the police and have to pay a fee. The students have to provide the following details to the local police which include country of origin, place of study, and contact details. The Home Office of the UK withdrew this rule on August 4, 2022. This rule will be applicable for the students who will come to study in the UK in future.
