NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
You are staring at the Facebook of the future.
Gone is having just one standard news feed, replaced by multiple feeds based on user interests.
For example, users will be able to browse a ‘sport’ feed, ‘style’ feed or ‘travel’ feed in addition to their regular news feed.
The prototypes were leaked by Jason Stein, co-founder of WindForce Ventures, in a tweet on Tuesday.
They were later confirmed by a Facebook spokesman who told The Verge: ‘People have told us they’d like new options to see and have conversations about more stories on Facebook around specific topics they’re interested in.
‘So we are testing feeds for people to view different stories from people and Pages based on topic areas.’
The idea is said to have come from Facebook’s ‘Paper’ app, which already automatically sorts items in users’ news feeds into different feeds.
The new format comes as Facebook also tests a new ‘Marketplace’ feature, allowing users to purchase items in their news feeds at the click of a button.
But while these new features are already being tested, many speculate that Facebook is also trying to increase its video capabilities.
@daniel_doelling totally agree.
