The Forbes Advisor editorial team is independent and objective. To help support our reporting work, and to continue our ability to provide this content for free to our readers, we receive payment from the companies that advertise on the Forbes Advisor site. This comes from two main sources.
First, we provide paid placements to advertisers to present their offers. The payments we receive for those placements affects how and where advertisers’ offers appear on the site. This site does not include all companies or products available within the market.
Second, we also include links to advertisers’ offers in some of our articles. These “affiliate links” may generate income for our site when you click on them. The compensation we receive from advertisers does not influence the recommendations or advice our editorial team provides in our articles or otherwise impact any of the editorial content on Forbes Advisor.
While we work hard to provide accurate and up to date information that we think you will find relevant, Forbes Advisor does not and cannot guarantee that any information provided is complete and makes no representations or warranties in connection thereto, nor to the accuracy or applicability thereof.

Swiftcover is a ‘no-frills’ car and home insurance provider. It was the first to offer a fully online service when it launched back in 2005 which means you could take out and manage a Swiftcover policy without having to pick up a telephone.
Since 2007, Swiftcover has been owned by AXA. Its policies are underwritten by AXA Insurance UK Plc, which is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

Choose from a range of policy options for affordable cover, that suits you and your car.
Swiftcover offers two types of car insurance: standard and plus. Both policy types cover the following as standard:
However, Switcover’s plus option includes extras including a courtesy car, wrong fuel cover, stolen keys cover, and onward travel cover.
You can choose to add the following optional extras on to either level of policy:
Swiftcover’s standard policy comes with a Defaqto rating of three stars, while its plus policy is five-star rated.
Swiftcover can be contacted by phone between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday, on 0330 024 6394.
The company can also be found on Facebook, or contacted through Twitter @swiftcover.
Alternatively, you can manage a Swiftcover policy online by opening a Swift Space account.
When comparing car insurance policies, the quoted annual premium is one of the most important factors to consider. However, just plumping for the cheapest policy may not provide the level of cover you need, and could put you at risk of being underinsured.
Always consider the level of cover offered under each policy and check what’s included as standard.
For example, if you plan to add on extras to a less comprehensive ‘cheaper’ policy it may not actually present the best value.
Consider trusted customer reviews too from drivers who have experienced making a claim.
In January 2022, the regulator the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) brought in new regulations that prevent car (and home) insurance companies charging existing customers a higher renewal price than new customers would pay for an equivalent policy.
However, it still makes sense to shop around for your car insurance policy whenever it’s time to renew. You may still be able to secure a better price than the renewal quote you are being offered for the appropriate level of cover.
I’ve been writing for a broad array of online publications for four years, always aiming to make important insights accessible. It’s my goal to ensure that as many people as possible can make informed decisions about their money, and get the most out of their finances with the least amount of stress.
